AWARDS

NMGIA Professional Service Awards are presented to individuals, organizations, and executives for outstanding contributions to the gang investigations profession. The criteria for evaluation and submission in each category is listed below. If you or someone you know has performed excellent work in the field of gang investigations worthy of recognition, please consider submitting an award nomination. Award recipients will be announced during the NMGIA Annual Training Event.

General Instruction for Nominations

Submit nominations electronically and provide detailed documentation of the above criteria. Self-nomination is not allowed. Submissions must have the permission of the agency or company for which the gang investigative work was done. Nominators and nominees need not be NMGIA members or affiliated with NMGIA at the time of submission; however, the nominee must become an NMGIA member before the evaluation/scoring process is completed. Telephone numbers and e-mail addresses for the nominators and nominees must be provided.

(2021) Gang Investigator of the Year Award (Law Enforcement Officer)

The criteria considered include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Evidence of individual ability to investigate gang activity.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in the area of gang investigations.

  • Innovative and creative use of resources to effectively combat gang activity.

  • Be proactive in identifying and documenting gang members.

(2021) Gang Investigator of the Year Award (Probation & Parole Officer)

The criteria considered include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Evidence of individual ability to investigate and/or document gang activity.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in the area of gang investigations and/or documentation.

  • Innovative and creative use of resources to effectively combat gang activity.

  • Be proactive in identifying and documenting gang members.

(2021) Gang Investigator of the Year Award (Correctional Officer)

The criteria considered include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Evidence of individual ability to investigate gang activity.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in the area of gang investigations.

  • Innovative and creative use of resources to effectively combat gang activity.

  • Be proactive in identifying and documenting gang members.
