GANG INVESTIGATOR CERTIFICATION

PROCESS

The Gang Investigator Certification process consists of five (5) phases as outlined below.

  1. Instruction.
  2. Examination.
  3. Grading.
  4. Evaluation.
  5. Review
Note: Evaluations are required to be completed in order to receive your certificate!

Below is the Gang Investigator Certification lesson plan outline. The Gang Investigator Certification is designed to provide graduates with a working knowledge of methods and techniques vital to gang investigations and prosecution. Graduates receive a special membership package substantiating the individual's achievements and granting the rights, honors and privileges of the Certified Gang Investigator (CGI) designation!

RECERTIFICATION

Annual recertification is required to maintain the Gang Investigator Certification status active from year to year. Additionally, Gang Investigator Certification holders are required to maintain their Gang Specialist Certification. Annual recertification fees for the Gang Specialist Certification are half price ($25.00) only if recertifying to maintain the Gang Investigator Certification. Recertification consists of a refresher course and the examination. The evaluation is not required for recertification but strongly encouraged and highly recommended so that we may adjust the program to meet our membership's needs.

Additionally, Gang Investigator Certification holders are required to maintain continued education by providing one (1) completed Gang Member Validation Criteria packet per month or contributing to a Gang Threat Assessment Profile monthly. This requirement may be substituted by providing proof of actively participating in a Gang Investigation or contributing to a gang member validation process or a gang database monthly. The continued education requirements for the Gang Specialist Certification are not required, only if maintaining continued education requirements for the Gang Investigator Certification.

Recertification is offered at the NMGIA Annual Conference!
