General Instructions for Nominations

Submit nominations electronically and provide detailed documentation of the provided criteria. Self-nomination is not allowed. Submissions must have the permission of the agency or company for which the gang investigative work was done. Nominators and nominees need not be NMGIA members or affiliated with NMGIA at the time of submission; however, the nominee must become an NMGIA member before the evaluation/scoring process is completed. Telephone numbers and e-mail addresses for the nominators and nominees must be provided.

Please submit nominations using the form below starting January 1st of each year. Deadline for award nominations is thirty (30) days prior to the date of the annual conference.

Organizational Awards

Gang Investigative Unit of the Year Award

Providing significant contributions to the gang knowledge base in New Mexico by;

  • Gathering current intelligence on any gang through interviews;
  • Documenting gang specific or contributing tattoos by photographing and establishing meaning of each tattoo;
  • Documenting gang specific symbolism (colors, hand signs, insignia, logos, notations, drawings, graffiti, etc...) and establishing meaning of each;
  • Documenting gang specific documents such as bylaws, ceremonial procedures, rosters, hit lists, membership lists, address books, etc.;
  • Documenting gang specific correspondence;
  • Documenting known gang group photos; and/or
  • Documenting court records or media specific to any gang.
